BS NP 4TP 2X G48 Definition

A Network Surge Suppressor also called a network lightning protector or a surge protector is basically a protective device that protects computer network equipment from current power surges as well as electromagnetic interference. From routers and switches to modems, it protects these devices and ensures optimum uninterrupted network performance by filtering out voltage and currents.

Function

  • Saves Network Equipment: A surge protector ensures that routers and other devices remain unaffected by high currents during power surges or lightning strikes.
  • Blocks Surge Voltage: Redistributes high voltage and current to the ground to safeguard network devices.
  • Power Purification: Reduces power disturbances to enhance the quality of electricity in the supply system, supporting the performance of devices.

How it works

A Network Surge Suppressor employs components such as zinc oxide and metal oxide to attain nonlinear resistance to surges where overvoltage is converted to safe voltage. It incorporates techniques like resistor, capacitor, and power triangle coupling to safeguard the circuit since network devices do not want to be destroyed by electrical spikes.
